Company History

Charles Allerton & Sons (formerly Allerton, Brough & Green) operated from the Park Works in Longton, Staffordshire from 1849 to1942.

They were taken over by Cauldon Potteries Ltd in 1912, but continued to produce wares under the Allertons Ltd name.

Marks

The firm's early wares were unmarked, after which a wide variety of impressed and printed marks were used (the mark on this Lustre ware match striker is hard to see)

Match strikers with a Stand

This lustre ware match striker has a striking surface composed of lots of little clay pellets in which the body of the match striker was rolled.
